More about the programme

• The Decent Homes programme has been agreed for 2007/08 but is subject to funding from 2008. The contractor for each area after 2008 will then be confirmed.
• All homes will be surveyed to see what improvement work needs to be carried out.
• Decent Homes is a Government target designed to update and improve homes to bring them up to a certain standard. If your property doesn’t meet the Decent Homes standard you could see a range of improvements.

Improvements you could see

• Decent Homes internal work - you could have a new kitchen, bathroom, re-wiring, new doors, central heating as well as other improvements.
• Decent Homes external work – you could have guttering, external insulation/cladding, roofing and painting, as well as other improvements to the outside of your home.
• The Decent Homes works will take five years to complete from 2008 to 2012 and unfortunately not all properties can be updated at the same time.
• The areas with the highest need will be carried out first focusing on homes that need the majority of work.
