Partnership helps keep tenancies
More than 100 tenants in Wolverhampton have received help in resolving their debt problems and rent arrears issues thanks to a special partnership between the Citizens Advice Bureau and Wolverhampton Homes.
The partnership agreement has been revised and will continue until March 2009 when it will be reviewed on an annual basis.
The CAB at Showell Circus, Low Hill, is open for advice Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 12.30pm. The CAB and Wolverhampton Homes are pleased to announce the CAB is also holding a general surgery at the Wednesfield office on Thursdays from 10am until 12.30pm to deal with a variety of issues residents may have.
Mark Henderson, director of housing for Wolverhampton Homes, said: “By working in partnership with CAB we can offer our tenants the support and help they need in order to keep their tenancies and to overcome the credit crunch.
“The majority of time tenants have other financial difficulties which they are preoccupied with due to the threats made to them by non-priority creditors. In effect they are scared as they are unaware of the actual powers which these creditors have and their rights in respect of them.”
Jeremy Vanes, chief executive of the CAB, said: “Tenants are sometimes unaware as to the exact extent of their debt and do not understand the importance of paying their rent and what could happen if they don’t.”
Leaflets with additional information are available from both Wolverhampton Homes and CAB offices.
