How to pay your rent

When to pay

Rent is due each Monday and must be paid by 1.00 pm on Saturday at local offices, or by 4.00 pm on Wednesday if paying at the Post Office, PayPoint or Payzone.
Please ensure that the amount paid has been receipted correctly by authorised staff.
You must make sure that your account is never in arrears. We are committed to the recovery of all debts.
FREE PRIZE DRAW - Keep your rent account fully paid up to date and we will enter you into our Quarterly PRIZE DRAW, worth up to £150 and our SUPER ANNUAL DRAW, at the end of March 2011, Worth up to £600. Full terms and conditions available on request or our website.
If you pay your rent monthly or fortnightly, you must pay in advance to avoid arrears.
If you are in arrears you must continue to make payments on the free weeks.
Your home is at risk if you do not pay your rent.

How to pay

Direct Debit is our preferred and cheapest method of payment. To set up please call free on 0800 408 0440 during office hours or download and complete the Direct Debit Mandate below

Take your plastic customer payment card to any:

Any Housing Office (cash, cheque, debit & credit cards accepted, cheques must be payable to Wolverhampton City Council

You can continue to use the card you have, it is personal to you whilst you remain in your current home.

By Telephone call city Pay, Freephone 0800 180 4464 (24 hour payment line). Homes Direct 01902 556789 Monday to Friday 8.30 am - 6.00 pm and Saturday 9.30 am - 1.00 pm. Have your debit/credit card details and payment refernce number when you call.

By Post (Cheque payments payable to Wolverhampton City Council) write your name address and account number on the back and send to your local office.
Standing Order This can be arranged with your bank or building society. Remember to quote Wolverhampton City Councils bank account number 61123528 and sort code 08-90-19 and your payment reference number.

To set up a Direct Debit and pay your rent and service charges the easy way

Call us FREE on 0800 408 0440 during office hours and have the following information to hand
- Your name as it appears on your bank/building society account
- Bank or building society account number and sort code - this can be found on your cheque book
- Your preferred payment date, either weekly on a Monday or monthly on the 1st, 8th, 15th or 22nd

Once the Direct Debit is set up

Wolverhampton Homes will always give you advanced written notice of payment dates and amounts to help you plan your budget.
The only thing you need to do is make sure you have enough money in your bank account to cover the payment when it is due.
