Out of Hours Emergencies

An emergency is something which has developed suddenly and perhaps unexpectedly. It needs to be dealt with urgently and cannot be safely left until the following working day.

If you find yourself facing a sudden emergency outside office hours, at weekends or during bank holidays then please telephone one of the following numbers in accordance with your type of emergency.

  • Monday to Thursday, 6pm to 8.30am
  • Friday 6pm - Saturday 9.30am
  • Saturday 1.00pm to Monday 8.30am
  • during Bank Holidays

    • Gas leaks - If you suspect you have a gas leak you should report it immediately to the National Grid emergency 24 hour hotline:  Freephone: 0800 111 999.
    • Out of hours general number - If you need to contact Wolverhampton Homes out of hours in the event of an emergency please call: (01902) 552999

    If your repair does not require an emergency response you will be advised to contact Homes Direct on the next working day to report your repair.

    What is classed as an emergency?

    The types of repair which are dealt with as emergencies are listed below:

    • total loss of electricity supply
    • unsafe power, lighting, socket or electrical fitting
    • total loss of water supply
    • total or partial loss of gas supply
    • blocked flue to an open fire or boiler
    • total or partial loss of heating or water heating between 31st October and 1st May
    • blocked or leaking foul drain, soil stack or (where there is no other working toilet in dwelling) toilet pan
    • toilet is not flushing (where no other working toilet is in the dwelling)
    • leaking water from water pipe, heating pipe, tank or cistern
    • insecure external window, door or lock.

    There may be other repairs which will be considered to require an emergency response where life or property may be at risk.
