Decent Homes
Decent Homes is a refurbishment programme for council homes across Wolverhampton. The Decent Homes programme is a national scheme to raise the standard of social housing. Wolverhampton Homes has already brought more than 16,500 homes up to the Government standard.
A decent home should:
- be in a reasonable state of repair
- be warm
- meet current legal housing standard
- an appropriately located bathroom and toilet
- adequate noise insulation
- adequate space and layout in common areas of flats
- have reasonable modern facilities and services which means:
- a kitchen that is no more than 20 years old
- a kitchen with adequate space and layout
- a bathroom that is no more than 30 years old
Under the Government standard, a home is still classed as ‘decent’ if it meets four of the points above. Homes which do not meet a defined standard of decency will receive new fixtures, fitting and improvements according to their individual requirements.
