Decent Homes Programme

The Decent Homes Programme sets out when work may be carried out inside or outside your home, as well as the construction firm which will carry out the work. We are working with three experienced partners to deliver this work – Thomas Vale, Frank Haslam Milan and Bullock Construction.

More about the programme

  • All homes will be surveyed to see what improvement work is needed.
  • Decent Homes is a Government programme designed to update and improve homes to a certain standard. If your property doesn’t meet the Decent Homes standard, you could see a range of improvements.

Improvements you could see

  • Decent Homes internal work could include a new kitchen, bathroom, re-wiring, new front or rear doors, central heating and other improvements.
  • Decent Homes external work might include new guttering, external insulation/cladding, roofing and painting, as well as other improvements to the outside of your home.
  • The Decent Homes improvements will take place between 2007 and 2015.
  • The areas with the highest need will be upgraded first, focusing on homes that need most work.

You may have different work carried out to your neighbour, as some properties may only need some improvements and others may not need any at all.
