Frequently Asked Questions

Who can join the scheme?

Any tenant or leaseholder aged 60 years or over can join. If you are younger than this but are unable to maintain your garden through disability or other circumstances, you may still be eligible.

How much will it cost to join?

The scheme costs just £7.50 per week. We can make easy arrangements for you to pay by Direct Debit.

What happens when I apply to join the scheme?

If you are eligible, our contractor will visit your garden. If you can join, we will contact you and sign you up for the service and confirm when the gardener will start work.

What happens if my garden is in a poorly maintained condition?

Our contractor will still visit you and advise on the cost of bringing the garden up to the standard required to join the scheme. We may be able to arrange payment by instalments.

How long do I have to join the scheme for?

Membership is for twelve months. It can be renewed on a yearly basis.

How often do the gardeners visit?

During spring and summer (April to September), a gardener will visit you fortnightly. In autumn and winter (October to March) they will visit you every month.

What work will the gardeners do when they visit?

During spring and summer gardeners will cut your lawns, trim your hedges and generally tidy up. When you are accepted on to the scheme, the contractor will confirm what work will be done. In the autumn and winter months, when grass cutting and hedge trimming may not be necessary, other work will be undertaken, such as shrub pruning, half moon edging, weeding and general tidying up.

Who will do the work?

The service is undertaken by our partner Continental Landscapes, a member of the British Association
of Landscape Industries, the Arboricultural Society and the Institute of Parks and Green space.
All gardeners are fully trained and qualified and work to the latest Health and Safety Regulations. They will bring with them
all the specialised tools and equipment required - including mowers, trimmers, strimmers and hand tools. They
are self supported and require no electric power from your home. Also, they are fully insured to work in your garden.
