Money Smart Team
Our Money Smart Team help our tenants to get the benefits they're entitled to, learn how to budget and manage their debts, help keep on top of their finances and reduce rent arrears.
The Money Smart Team can:
- Advise on how to pay your rent and arrears.
- Give you debt advice.
- Make referrals to The Pension Service for those over the age of 60 for a full benefit entitlement check.
- Make free fast-track referrals to the Citizens Advice Bureau and other independent and impartial debt advice agencies.
- Advise on the low cost loans and savings services offered by credit unions.
- Provide information on the Basic Bank Account, a simple, straightforward account with no hidden costs.
- Arrange low cost Home Contents insurance, from as little as 46p per week for over 60s and £1.21 per week for under 60's.
- Advise on the cost of Running a Home and budgeting.
- Show how to maximise your income.
- Provide information on different tariffs from energy suppliers.
- Give you loan comparisons.
- Give you advice and support if you are affected by illegal money lenders (loan sharks).
- Help you access low cost, recycled furniture.
- Help you access new, low cost, white goods (electrical goods for the kitchen) and support you to get a low cost loan to pay for these (subject to loan approval).
