Equality and Diversity
We are committed to achieving equality and valuing diversity.
What is Equality?
Equality is about making sure people are treated fairly and are given fair chances. We recognise the importance of fair treatment for all and believe that everyone should have equal access to services and the opportunity to participate in a full community life. We are determined to contribute to building strong and cohesive communities in Wolverhampton, communities in which all residents feel valued and safe.
What is Diversity?
Diversity aims to recognize, respect and value people’s differences to contribute and realize their full potential by promoting an inclusive culture for all members of our community.
Why is it important?
We recognise the importance of fair treatment for all and believe that everyone should have equal access to services and the opportunity to participate in a full community life. We are determined to contribute to building strong and cohesive communities in Wolverhampton, communities in which all residents feel valued and safe.
By law, we must make sure that we do not discriminate against anyone for any reason. It is also morally wrong to discriminate against someone. As a successful organisation, we encourage diversity because if we have a wider range of people working for us, we are more likely to have someone who understands your specific needs and can provide the particular service that you want.
We are currently consulting with our customers (during February & March 2012) about our equality and diversity priorities and once the review has been undertaken information will be published.
