I first heard about Click Start at the Jobcentre. I was worried about the switch to Universal Credit and the online applications that I would have to make. I was starting to panic. I thought that technology had passed me by and I was in need of getting up to speed. Click Start is a computer training course that is designed to boost people’s basic digital skills and help them to get into work, apply for benefits and manage their finances to name just a few. I gave the jobcentre my details and before I knew it I got a call from Pippa at Click Start. My first appointment was booked and I couldn’t wait to start…

I have learned so much over the last 6 weeks and I couldn’t thank Pippa enough. She is very understanding and helpful even though I really did feel like I knew nothing about technology. I didn’t even have a phone. Every week I would look forward to Pippa’s arrival as I was eager to learn. I managed to sort out my Universal Credit claim, apply for Money Smart services ran by Wolverhampton Homes and log into my online account, now called ‘My Account’, where I checked all things tenancy related. Keeping my flat is most important to me so making sure that I was on track with my finances was a big weight off my shoulders. I am now confident that my account is in credit and any repairs have been logged by checking online. Whenever I started to go wrong in my lessons, Pippa would point me in the right direction with her lovely and polite manner. It has also given me a new hobby, as I go to the library a few times a week to use their computers and practice my new skills

Click Start has given me so much confidence and has been one of the best things I have ever done. Just small things like keeping in touch with friends on social media and looking up any medication I get from the doctors really helps me feel that little happier. I even invested in a smartphone, so I can keep in touch with family and friends and it helps me to get out the house more and socialise.

If I can work with technology – anyone can. If someone would have told me six months ago that I could do what I can now on computers, I wouldn’t have believed them. Thank you Click Start for making me feel like I am back in the digital age.
