The “Molineux Sleepout” last Friday, 15th November, boasted over 200 members that spent the night in the stands of the Molineux stadium. The event raised over £30,000 that will help the city take positive action to remove homelessness from the streets of Wolverhampton.

We pledged our support, along with the City of Wolverhampton Council, by members of our team braving the elements for the night, in return for raising funds and awareness for the homeless. Shaun Aldis, our Chief Executive, Angela Barnes, our Assistant Director - Housing Options and Kate Martin, the Council’s Director of City Housing backed the cause by spending the night in the stands.

In a bid to tackle homelessness, the money raised will be split between the Wolverhampton Wanderers Foundation and the Good Shepherd. Both are charities that with the extra funds, will hope to reach out to more people that are at risk of homelessness and exclusion within the Wolverhampton community.

Shaun Aldis, Chief Executive of Wolverhampton Homes said:

Throughout the year, ourselves and our partners work hard to support those at risk of homelessness in our city. Unlike a rough sleeper, we only had to brave the cold for one evening, but we are proud of the money and awareness the Molineux Sleepout has raised to help the homeless.

Thank you to those that have donated so far. It is great to see our city unite and support such a great cause.

If you see a rough sleeper, don’t let them suffer in silence – report it via StreetLink and get them the support they need.

If you haven’t already and you’d like to donate, please give what you can.
