We have been named as one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK.
Announced yesterday, we were ranked in the top 50 places to work in the not-for-profit sector in a list published by The Sunday Times and employee engagement specialists, Best Companies.
Overall, we were ranked 42nd in the national list which recognises and celebrates the best places to work in the UK.
We employ more than 730 members of staff who help look after more than 23,000 homes in the city.
Hundreds of companies from across the country took part in the Best Companies survey this year where employees were asked to rate the company they worked for through in-depth questionnaires.
We were awarded an overall two-star rating from Best Companies which classes us as an ‘outstanding’ company to work for when it comes to employee engagement.

This is a wonderful achievement for us. We all know that times are really hard in the public sector with less and less money to go around. And in housing, with the impact of welfare reforms, it’s a real challenge for everyone. But what this result shows is that we’ve got a team of dedicated professionals who really care about the work they do, who care about making a difference and who are committed to helping those in our city who are really struggling at the moment. I take an enormous amount of pride in knowing that”.

I want to congratulate Wolverhampton Homes, and their Chief Executive Lesley Roberts, on being ranked by the Sunday Times as one of the top not-for-profit organisations to work for in the country. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone at Wolverhampton Homes. I know the staff of Wolverhampton Homes do an excellent job of managing Wolverhampton’s council homes and supporting their tenants. In particular, I want to praise Wolverhampton Homes for its focus on helping unemployed tenants find work through its double-award winning Learning, Employment and Achievement Programme and its development of digital engagement and social media."

Wolverhamton Homes does one of the most important jobs in the city and this is a great achievement. Many of my constituents are tenants that rely on Wolverhampton Homes staff for everything from finding a new home to essential repairs. The best performing organisations are those that are good employers and it is particularly important to be able to show that it is possible to invest in staff at a time of financial constraint in the public sector. It was fantastic to welcome staff members to Parliament and be able to congratulate them personally."
This latest award comes at the end of a successful twelve months for Wolverhampton Homes after its LEAP apprenticeship programme, which has helped more than 100 local council tenants to get new skills, work experience and apprenticeships, beat off competition from household names like NatWest, Vodafone, O2 and ASDA to be named as winner of the Peer Awards for Excellence for its work in supporting the local community.
