Council housing in the city received a big boost earlier this week after Wolverhampton Homes were named 12th in a national countdown of the country’s top social landlords.

Leading housing publication, 24 Housing revealed its list of the Top 50 social landlords late last week. Wolverhampton Homes, which manages more than 23,000 homes in the city on behalf of the council has climbed one place in the chart from last year’s 13th position. It’s now also the second best ALMO (Arms-Length Management Organisation) in the country according to the list.

Chief Executive Lesley Roberts said:

This is wonderful news and I’m exceptionally proud of my staff – all of whom have helped us to achieve this. The fact that we’re nationally recognised as one of the best is a huge honour and I think reflects the work we’re doing here to deliver good value and good quality services for tenants and leaseholders in our city. We’re doing really innovative things like giving tenants training and work experience through our award-winning LEAP programme and embracing the world of social media and online services and that’s starting to be recognised which is a huge boost for us and huge boost for Wolverhampton.
