February was Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans (LGBT) History Month. It celebrates the lives and achievements of the LGBT community and aims to combat prejudice against the LGBT community.

As part of our celebrations, our Proud to be Me Network held a “Meet and Greet” for any tenants who want to help make us the most LGBT friendly organisation in the UK. The tenants that came along have formed the new Proud to be Me Tenant group.

Ian from Wednesfield, is one of the tenants who has joined the group, he said:

"I have enjoyed meeting with the staff and tenants of Wolverhampton Homes today, the issues we discussed were important to LGBT tenants living within in our city. I am excited and happy to be part of a team who can raise public awareness and affect positive change for LGBT tenants within Wolverhampton. It is good to know that Wolverhampton Homes is listening and engaging with LGBT and other minority groups of tenants, this will improve service delivery and build happier communities."

Kirsty Wade from East Park said:

"What a fantastic start to what is going to be a much needed cause, I've already disclosed my sexuality because I'm proud to be me."

The next meeting will be on Tuesday 7th April, if you would like to join the Proud to Be Me tenant group or come and see what it's all about send us an email
