It is your responsibility to ensure you, or tenants who live in your property, are aware of fire safety and how to prevent fires in your home.

High Rise Blocks

For leaseholders who have flats in high-rise blocks (defined as blocks with six or more floors), it is especially important.

We can help with you this by carrying out free fire safety visits to go through fire safety procedures and to check the flat is fire safe such as working smoke alarms. The visit will only take 10-15 minutes.

You will need to request a fire safety visit if:

  • Your high-rise flat is being sublet so your tenants can be briefed on the fire safety procedures.
  • Your high-rise flat is being sublet and there has been a change of tenant.
  • You’re a new leaseholder of a high-rise flat bought on the private market.

Please note: if you have a letting agent in place it is your responsibility to inform them to contact us to arrange a fire safety visit.

You can request a fire safety visit by completing the contact form.

Low Rise Blocks

For leaseholders in our low and medium blocks, you don't need to have a fire safety visit, however we can arrange one for you on request. Just complete the contact form.

Safe and Well Visits

We recommend 'Safe and Well' visits by West Midlands Fire Service for all leaseholders. For more details please call freephone 0800 3895525 or email  homesafety.centre@wmfs.net.
