Subletting Your Property
You have the right to sublet your property provided you get our consent first. If you do not obtain consent you are in breach of the terms of your lease. Consent is only given provided if none of the lease terms are in breach.
In order to ask for consent, you need to contact the Home Sales and Leases Team and provide us with your new address and telephone number so we contact you.
It's your responsibility to ensure that your tenant/s comply with the terms of the lease. If they do not, any action taken will be against you as the registered leaseholder.
Before you agree to sublet your property, you are advised to investigate the implications thoroughly. Ask Citizens Advice or your legal representative what you should do to make sure you are legally protected because we will not get involved or be held responsible for any difficulties you may have with your tenant.
We do not charge an administration or consent fee for subletting your property but this is subject to review.
