What is the digital switchover?

We are aware that as a telecare customer you may have received communication from your telephone provider. BT and Virgin media are leading the market in the digital switchover. Over a number of years all copper wire telephone cables will be replaced with fibre optic cabling. This will mean that your telephone provider will install a new telephone box in your home.

Will the digital switchover impact your telecare equipment?

We have been working closely with BT and Virgin who have tested our equipment and ensured us that our equipment will continue to work after the digital switchover. We have witnessed our equipment working in the community in homes that have already had a digital switchover, we can confirm our equipment will continue to work effectively.

What will happen next?

The City of Wolverhampton Council are busy creating a project team, you will be contacted in due course (before the end of 2025) and you will be visited by a technician who will upgrade your telecare equipment.

Reminder

If we need to visit your home our staff will always carry ID. Please ask any one that visits your home for their ID and check it carefully.
