Turning the city orange to fight gender-based violence

Wolverhampton Homes Sustainment and Support team have been out and about in the city supporting this year's Orange the World and Orange Wolves campaign.

The campaign is 16 days of action to end violence against women and girls between 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) and 10 December (UN Human Rights Day).

We've been working with partners across the city to raise awareness about some of the biggest issues - including domestic abuse, female genital mutilation, stalking and forced marriage - and highlight the help and support that is available.

This year the campaign is asking for your help.

There's still time for residents in the city to complete an important community survey focusing on the safety of women and girls. Organisers are particularly keen to hear from young people aged between 16 and 25, and the over 65s. The Safety of Women and Girls Survey, conducted by West Midlands Police and the Safer Wolverhampton Partnership, asks women and girls how safe they feel when they are out and about, and to share details of issues they may have either witnessed or experienced anywhere in Wolverhampton, along with locations that are of concern to them.

The deadline is Friday 10 December and feedback from the survey will be used to inform policing and community safety activity across Wolverhampton. All responses to the survey are anonymous, and not all questions are mandatory.
