Wolverhampton Homes staff sleep out for homeless charities

Molineux Sleepout 2023

Colleagues from Wolverhampton Homes have slept out at the ‘Molineux Sleepout’ to raise funds to support people experiencing homelessness across the city.

Anti-Social Behaviour officer Amelia Chalak and Homeless Services team colleagues Jayne Freer and Glen Newton joined more than 150 other fundraisers to brave the rain and cold, sleeping overnight in the Stan Cullis Stand at the Wolverhampton Wanderers football ground, the Molineux.

Amelia said:

“The Molineux Sleepout is such an important event to raise awareness about homelessness and raise money for the amazing charities who work every day to support those in need. It was a horrible wet night, but I have a safe and warm home to go back to, which isn’t the case for those who are homeless.

“I’m proud to be able to do my bit to help these great charities continue to support people in the city.”

Glen said:

“The Molineux Sleepout was such a humbling experience for me. It was almost impossible to sleep and get comfortable in the cold and on the hard concrete. I couldn’t imagine having to do that all night, every night, some for years.

"Taking part in the sleepout really invigored the passion within me to help and support those experiencing homelessness.”

Together, the team raised over £1,300, which has been matched by Wolverhampton Homes as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, to give a total donation of more than £2,600.

The team’s contribution will be added to more than £50,000 raised by this year’s sleepout, which will be shared between the Wolves Foundation and the Good Shepherd to continue their work supporting people at risk of homelessness across Wolverhampton.
