Smoke Alarm

Fire alarms

To help keep you and your family safe most homes are fitted with a heat detector in the kitchen and a smoke detector in the hallway.

Providing an early warning in the event of a fire, they give you vital time to ‘get out, stay out and call 999’, but they need to be looked after and checked regularly to make sure they are working properly.

How to test your fire alarms

West Midlands Fire Service recommends testing your fire alarms regularly by pressing the button in the centre. If it beeps, it is working. If it does not, it will need to be replaced.

If you believe your fire alarm is faulty, please let us know straight away and we will arrange for a replacement to be fitted.

Remember: #TestItTuesday - it is good practice to test your smoke alarms every week.

Check out the West Midlands Fire Service for more good advice on maintaining your smoke alarms.
