Building works update

  • Red Oak, Ling, Hawthorn, Tremont and Lincoln House

Major refurbishment work is underway at the Heath Town mid-rise blocks. The project includes:

    • ceiling refits in the hallways of each building
    • the installation of modern sprinkler systems
    • interior electrical work
    • door replacements
    • along with Intercom upgrades to improve the security and communication of residents

These essential upgrades are part of a wider plan to enhance safety, functionality, and comfort for all.

  • Longfield House

We are completing internal works and these include fire door, window and heating installation, as well as primary pipe work. We are in the early stages, however work is progressing well.

  • Brockfield House

Building work is going smoothly. We are booking appointments to snag and check on the work of previously snagged properties. We are also booking in any outstanding work to complete ahead of full internal handovers with Wolverhampton Homes.

The scaffold around the building is being taken down, currently working on level 9.

  • Campion House

We are working through the block, booking in snagging appointments, which is then followed up with appointments to complete the work. This is running smoothly so far.

We are also laying the new communal flooring, completing two floors per day.

  • Deck access blocks

Works have begun on Lincoln Street and we have completed works in the pilot properties. The pilot properties help us to test the refurbishment works in a similar home, so we are as efficient as possible upgrading your homes.

Surveys are also underway, and whilst we are in the very early stages, works are progressing well.

Join us for our coffee mornings ☕

United Living, the building contractor organising the works, host coffee mornings once a month. These sessions are held on the estate to ensure tenants are aware of works and have the opportunity to chat to a member of the team. We will also always update you with any building works, with a dedicated Resident Liaison Officer visiting your home with a letter including the details.

The coffee mornings are advertised in the relevant block. Please keep an eye out for the details and make sure to say hello!

New Builds SQ

New council homes to be built on former Duke of York pub site

The planning application has been approved for new council homes to be built on the site of the former Duke of York pub, as part of the ongoing transformation of the Heath Town estate.

Construction partner Keon Homes put forward proposals, on behalf of the council, for 32 one and two-bedroom apartments.

The development, facing Wednesfield Road, Tremont Street and Inkerman Street, would include wheelchair accessible ground floor homes.

The proposals form part of a second phase of Heath Town regeneration that is aiming to deliver up to 120 new council homes across five sites – and works could start in winter 2025/26.

  • 3rd Wednesfield Scouts meet the Neighbourhood Policing team! 🚨

The 3rd Wednesfield Squirrel, Beaver, and Cub Scouts had an unforgettable evening recently when they were visited by the Wednesfield Neighbourhood Policing team!

The young Scouts were thrilled to learn all about the important work the local police and Community Support officers do to keep the community safe. Officers gave a hands-on demonstration of the gear they wear on duty, with children able to try on the gear and sit inside a real police car.

The Cubs asked some brilliant questions, including what happens when someone is arrested and how the police handle different situations. The officers were impressed by the curiosity and enthusiasm shown by all the young people.

A huge thank you to the Wednesfield Neighbourhood Policing team for taking the time to inspire the next generation of responsible citizens!

Please email the team if you are interested in your child becoming a member of 3rd Wednesfield Scouts.
