Updates from the City of Wolverhampton Council

Major milestone achieved 🏠

We've hit a major milestone in the development of Heath Town, as tenants have started moving into the first new council homes built on the estate in 54 years. The first 18 homes on Hobgate Road have been handed over to Wolverhampton Homes to manage. It is the first phase of a total of more than 150 new homes to be built on the estate over the coming years, with the council set to develop other sites across the estate. Read the full story in our news section of the website. Hitting this major milestone would not have been possible without your support and co-operation, thank you.

Check out the video below where Councillor Steve Evans, Cabinet Member for City Housing at City of Wolverhampton Council, and Sophie Munn, Head of Tenancies and Communities at Wolverhampton Homes, share how the regeneration of Heath Town is helping to create thriving communities. πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

A message from us at Wolverhampton Homes and United Living

Please click on the name of your block below, for a short update on the building works.

  • Brockfield House
    • We are fitting your new external windows and doors.
    • We are rendering the outside walls to help with the look of the building and energy efficiencies, starting from the top of the block to the bottom.
    • Your safety is our priority. We have been installing sprinkler systems, fire safety alarms and heating works, all to ensure your home is at the highest fire and safety standards.
  • Campion House
    • We are working with a telecommunications company to remove the existing equipment on the roof.
    • When the telecommunications equipment is removed from Campion House, we will be able to finish the scaffolding.
    • Following on from the scaffolding being finished, we will fit the windows and install the rendering to the outside of the block – bringing a fresh look and feel to the building.
  • Tremont House and Lincoln House
    • We have completed the scaffolding and are carrying out surveys to the external elevations, with some concrete repairs being done too.
    • We are fitting new electrical meter cupboards to all homes. This will help to upgrade your home, keeping the pipework neat and tidy, whilst ensuring your home is of a good standard for years to come.
    • On the second floor, we are fitting the first sprinklers in your homes and on the landing area. Sprinklers are being fitted across the estate as part of a range of fire safety enhancements to keep you safe in your home. Find out more about home safety.
    • You will see new notice boards in the foyer area where you can see the latest updates.
  • Longfield House
    • We are adding cupboards which will house the new sprinkler system and electrical works - upgrading the look and safety of your home.
    • New notice boards will be put up in the foyer and show relevant information for your block. Please check back regularly for details of the next coffee morning – your chance to chat to the team.

New bin and recycling areas coming soon

We have listened to your feedback, and understand that you would like more recycling and bin areas. We are mapping these out with the council and our partners, and will update you in the next newsletter.

Please provide access so we can upgrade your home 🏠

Thank you to all who have allowed access so far. We do everything we can to ensure you are supported through these critical works.

If you have any questions, your Customer Liaison Officers from United Living will be in touch, working alongside your Tenancy Officers they are there to help you. If you do not allow access, this will only delay the project – so please help us to keep it running smoothly.

Safer stairways

We will soon be starting a pilot scheme to the stairway at Tithe Croft – it will see improvements to the walls which aim to prevent further vandalism. Once we have reviewed the pilot, we will then hope to improve all stairways in the same way. Watch this space.

Check out the video below featuring Councillor Steve Evans, Cabinet Member for City Housing, sharing his thoughts on the impact of the regeneration project so far, levelling up the community. You will also hear from local residents - give it a watch! πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

You said, we did. We are listening to your feedback from your local TRA meeting and helping to create positive change. You said: Some block doors are being propped open and as a result, residents are feeling unsafe. We did: The doors are being monitored and through CCTV, we were able to identify the resident responsible. This has been brought to a stop. You said: There were safety issues with people on the scaffolding. We did: United Living sent letters to the block, highlighting the risk. We also identified an individual repeat offender to ensure it won't happen again. You said: That there is poor TV reception at Lincoln and Tremont House. We did: We completed some digital works to ensure full reception. This has been resolved, but we will continue to monitor the situation.

SUCCESS STORY - King’s coronation celebration πŸ‘‘

On Saturday 6 May, your local TRA coordinated a celebration, to bring together families across the estate. The community event was held at the ball court with support and facilities from the Hope Centre. The TRA would like to thank the council, Wolverhampton Homes, and United Living for supporting the event.

Families enjoyed face painting, arts and crafts, magic shows, an inflatable racetrack, music, dance performances, as well as delicious hot food and drinks! A wonderful day was had by all, we even got a special visit from the Mayor and consort.

A shout out to all volunteers and residents for your hard work pulling this amazing event together – supporting the TRAs aims to restore pride in the community and help families make happy memories. We look forward to seeing you at the next celebration – watch this space!
