Helping to turn the city orange to fight gender-based violence

We are playing our part in the tenth annual Orange Wolves – the city-wide campaign to end violence against women and girls.

It is 16 days of action to end violence against women and girls and takes place between 25 November, which is International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and 10 December, which is UN Human Rights Day.

There are several events that are open to the public - anyone is welcome and no booking is required. These are:

Tuesday 25 November: 10.30am - 11.30am. Flag-raising ceremony by the Right Worshipful Mayor of Wolverhampton to launch the campaign. Meet outside the Civic Centre near the flagpole, St Peter's Square.

Friday 28 November: 3pm - 4pm. Ribbon making and tea and coffee at Whitmore Reans Library

Wednesday 03 December: 11am - 2pm. Chai and chat drop-in at Bob Jones Community Centre. Run by ROSHNI, it will offer support and advice on honour-based abuse, elder abuse and forced marriage. Sessions will be delivered in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic.

Tuesday 09 December: 10am - 3.30pm. Orange Wolves partners and stakeholders will have an information stall at the Mander Centre to raise awareness.

Wednesday 10 December: 11.45am - 12.15pm. Flag-lowering ceremony, which will be led by Councillor Ahmed, the Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Community. Meet outside the Civic Centre near the flagpole, St Peter's Square.
