We are playing our part in the tenth annual Orange Wolves – the city-wide campaign to end violence against women and girls.
It is 16 days of action to end violence against women and girls and takes place between 25 November, which is International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and 10 December, which is UN Human Rights Day.
There are several events that are open to the public - anyone is welcome and no booking is required. These are:
Tuesday 25 November: 10.30am - 11.30am. Flag-raising ceremony by the Right Worshipful Mayor of Wolverhampton to launch the campaign. Meet outside the Civic Centre near the flagpole, St Peter's Square.
Friday 28 November: 3pm - 4pm. Ribbon making and tea and coffee at Whitmore Reans Library.
Saturday 29 November: 11am - 1pm. Orange Drop-In session at Springvale Library.
Wednesday 03 December: 11am - 2pm. Chai and chat drop-in at Bob Jones Community Centre, Bromley St, Wolverhampton WV2 3AS. Run by ROSHNI, it will offer support and advice on honour-based abuse, elder abuse and forced marriage. Sessions will be delivered in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic.
Tuesday 09 December: 10am - 3.30pm. Orange Wolves partners and stakeholders will have an information stall at the Mander Centre to raise awareness.
Tuesday 09 December: 5.30pm - 6.30pm. Online session - Re-think mental health for domestic abuse victims with a Q&A. Focus on Re-Think mental health services and how to access, holistic and person-centred based approaches, what a 'personal toolkit'. There will be an opportunity for a Q&A segment. Wednesday 10 December: 10am - 11.30am. A walk led by ROSHNI to raise awareness, Meet at 10am outside St Peter’s Church steps, St Peter’s Square, for a short city walk.
Wednesday 10 December: 11.45am - 12.15pm. Flag-lowering ceremony, which will be led by Councillor Ahmed, the Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Community. Meet outside the Civic Centre near the flagpole, St Peter's Square.
