How our REACH work experience programme helps young people – Lauren’s story

With applications for our REACH work experience programme opening again shortly, Lauren, a previous participant, explains the impact it had on her:

“The REACH programme is excellent; it provided me with invaluable experience, not only in terms of practical skills, but also in building my confidence and understanding of the workplace. The insights and advice shared stayed with me far beyond my time at Wolverhampton Homes and played a significant role in shaping my job applications and interviews.

“From the very beginning, the team were all so encouraging and generous with their time. Their welcoming attitude, respect for my opinions, encouragement, and inclusion left me feeling more capable and far more confident.

“I have since been offered a role as a Business Administrator and have been placed on reserve lists for two other Civil Service positions. Without REACH, I doubt I would have been offered employment in such an important role with a good grade and starting salary straight out of university.”

REACH is a free, six-week work experience programme for jobseekers aged 18 – 24 living in Wolverhampton.
