Veterans who may have been injured as a result of military service are being encouraged to contact Wolverhampton's Home Improvement Agency if they require support.
This service is dedicated to helping older people, people with disabilities and vulnerable people, including veterans, to live in their own homes safely and comfortably.
Although it is run by Wolverhampton Homes, the service is available to any resident in Wolverhampton who has had a recommendation made by an occupational therapist for necessary and appropriate works.
The Home Improvement Agency can provide grants or assistance to remove hazards from homes, offer advice and support in adapting homes, including Disabled Facilities Grants, and complete inspections after any work has been carried out to ensure people are happy with the service they have received. It can also provide help and advice to keep people safe and secure at home, discuss housing options, and signpost to other organisations like charities which can offer help and support.
Councillor Greg Brackenridge, Chair of the Wolverhampton Armed Forces Covenant Board, said:
“If you are a veteran who has been injured as a result of your service, regardless of the length of time you have served, please consider declaring your service and accessing the help which may be available to you through the Home Improvement Agency."

Like Wolverhampton Homes, the City of Wolverhampton Council is a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant and was recently recognised for its work in this area by being awarded the prestigious Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award.
As lead for the Armed Forces Covenant Partnership Board for the city, the council co-ordinates support for the armed forces community across Wolverhampton.
